The notion of a wooden boat build project was conceived in August 2001. Following the attacks on September 11, the notion became real. A gray hull was located in Northport, Maine in September 2001. The boat was purchased several days later and preparations began to transport the hull to Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania. The hull arrived in Pittsburgh on October 14, 2001, by the middle of November new line drawings of the existing hull were complete and the hull was rolled over. April 2002 saw the beginnings of a new boat with the new keel and transom complete. By October 2002 the original planks were temporarily fitted to the new framework. October 2003 saw the installation of the engine and sole beams. YNOT was launched for the first time into the Allegheny River on October 31, 2004. The seating and ceiling boards were installed in January and February of 2005. The fully complete YNOT was launched into Lake Dora, Mount Dora, FL at the end of March 2005. Since its launching on October 31, 2004, YNOT has seen several hundred hours of use and has been hauled thousands of miles along the east coast visiting ports from Camden, Maine to Naples, Florida. © 2010 YNOT Yachts |
